Dear 3/4,
While the year 2009 is coming to an end, here's a new blogskin for 2010! Cool yeah? I hope everything has been fine with you during the holidays. Trust that you all had a good rest as well. In about 2 weeks, school will reopen again. Nevertheless, this blog will still be open. All in 3/4 of 2009 (including Priscilla and Fuyuan of course!!) and in 4/4 can use this blog. =)
Looking forward to seeing all of you when school reopens! Take care!

Teachers' Day 2009
Dear 3/4,
Thank you for the wonderful surprises prepared during Teachers' Day 2009. I was pleasantly surprised and can see that all of you took pains to come up with ideas and the food. Below are some pictures taken on that day. You might want to share them with your family or even siblings who are studying at FPPS too. Thanks also to Logeswaran who helped me with capturing most of the shots in the canteen during the class party. =)
Enjoy!

The Blink-Off
Dear 3/4 class,
We are almost through the week since term 3 started. Thank you for being cooperative in this tough time of temperature taking. Illnesses spread like wildfire and especially if it mutates, the consequences can be really bad. You did an excellent job of being socially responsible and I'm so proud of you. Those who were unwell, you took a leave of absence, and that was being responsible.
We also welcome Elisha, who is our new classmate. Make him feel welcome in class, just as Samuel and Aaron are doing. :)
Well, in this week, we learnt about the Blink-Off during English lessons. Did you enjoy the story? I did! Did you get a chance to play blink-off with your friends? Who won in the end?
Maybe you would like to post your comments regarding this game here?
Share with us who you challenged. Is it your classmate? father? mother? siblings? pet fish? hamster? :)
Tell us who won and how you felt about the game.
Do you think you qualify to be a blink master?
I'd love to hear from you!

Trip to Sentosa
Hello 3/4,
How is your holidays so far? I'm sure those of you who have shared about your holiday experiences would have enjoyed them so far. As for those of you who stayed home this holidays, it would be a fabulous time of rest for you.
This holidays, I managed to get some rest and relaxation at Rasa Sentosa Resort, which is at Sentosa island itself. It's my first time staying there. A nice place, and there were a lot of families having a great time there swimming, playing at the arcade etc.
Below are some pictures I'd like to share with you. =)
The scenic view of the resort...
Finally found this brownie to eat for dinner, because most food outlets were closed by 7pm.
Mr Sum posing with a cup of milo at the cafe.
Enjoying a meal at the cafe.
Spotted this creature when we went to the butterfly park and insect kingdom. Is it an iguana? It was really big, and anytime it was ready to jump at us. If you want to find out more about butterflies, birds and reptiles, the butterfly park is a good place to visit. =)

For the June Holidays
Dear 3/4,
It was a good end to the term, and I hope you enjoyed the programmes and activities set out for you. The holidays are drawing near (in fact, that's tomorrow!), and this post is a reminder of the homework for June:
1) One Book review to be posted on this blog (previous post) with comments and your recommendations.
2) English composition
3) English paper 1 and 2 exam paper
4) Mathematics exam practice paper 1
5) 1 journal entry on this blog
Please also remember to complete your Young Scientist activity cards and submit them to me, together with $2.50 for the Young Scientist badge and certificate on the first day of term 3.
Trust that you will have a fulfilling holiday. Try not to rush through the holiday homework. If possible, try spreading it out through the holidays. Do 1-2 assignments every week, then you will find that there's time for other activities and play.
Oh yes, take time to play too because some of us have been studying very very hard. It's time to take a break and enjoy what is around. Take time to admire the scenery outside your house. Take time to spend with your doodling and soft toys. Take time to spend over lunch and dinner with your family. Take time to spend with your hobbies.
Lastly, take care and we'll meet in term 3. =)

After exam
Dear 3/4,
Now that it is after the exams, I'm sure you have more time to spend with your hobbies and reading. Do remember, for those pupils who have not been bringing their story books, to bring them to school every single day. Reading is so important, it teaches us more than just the language. Now that it is 2 weeks before the school holidays, do try to finish up your reading record by reading more books.
Please post your interesting book reviews on this post so that you could recommend your friends to read those books. I will open this thread till after the holidays. :)

Song Lyrics
Dear 3/4,
Some of you might feel that it's more convenient to look at the lyrics of the song Heal The World online instead. Here's the online version of what I've printed for you.
STANZA 1: ALL TO SING
There's A Place InYour Heart
And I Know That It Is Love
And This Place Could
Be Much
Brighter Than Tomorrow
And If You Really Try
You'll Find There's No Need To Cry
In This Place You'll Feel
There's No Hurt Or Sorrow
There Are Ways
To Get There
If You Care Enough
For The Living
Make A Little Space
Make A Better Place...
CHORUS
Heal The World
Make It A Better Place
For You And For Me
And The Entire Human Race
There Are People Dying
If You Care Enough
For The Living
Make A Better Place
For You And For Me
STANZA 2: BOYS TO SING
If You Want To Know Why
There's A Love That
Cannot Lie
Love Is Strong
It Only Cares For
Joyful Giving
If We Try
We Shall See
In This Bliss
We Cannot Feel
Fear Or Dread
We Stop Existing And
Start Living
Then It Feels That Always
Love's Enough For
Us Growing
So Make A Better World
Make A Better World...
(GO TO CHORUS)
BRIDGE: TAKE OUT YOUR ANIMAL MASKS AND PUT IT ON (CLAP HANDS)
And The Dream We Were
Conceived In
Will Reveal A Joyful Face
And The World We
Once Believed In
Will Shine Again In Grace
Then Why Do We Keep
Strangling Life
Wound This Earth
Crucify Its Soul
Though It's Plain To See
This World Is Heavenly
Be God's Glow
STANZA 3: ALL GIRLS TO SING
We Could Fly So High
Let Our Spirits Never Die
In My Heart
I Feel You Are All
My Brothers
Create A World With
No Fear
Together We'll Cry
Happy Tears
See The Nations Turn
Their Swords
Into Plowshares
We Could Really Get There
If You Cared Enough
For The Living
Make A Little Space
To Make A Better Place...
(GO TO CHORUS AND SING IT 3 TIMES)
There Are People Dying
If You Care Enough
For The Living
Make A Better Place
For You And For Me
(SING TWO TIMES)
You And For Me (SING 10 TIMES)

Maths Journal #2
Hi 3/4,
This week's Maths journal is a challenging Maths question on whole numbers. See if you can solve for it!
Remember to do the questions on your own, then your explainations and answers will reflect your thoughts. :)
The total number of people in an auditorium was 8221. There were thrice as many men as women. There were 2256 more children than women. How many men were in the auditorium?

English Holiday Homework
Dear class,
The March holidays are coming and I trust that all of you will be making use of the time to revise whatever you were taught in Term 1. Term 2 is a very short term, as exams will be coming in slightly more than a month's time. Count the days, and you will realise that it's coming real soon!
Well, be prepared for what lies ahead and put in your best. Remember to persevere in the tasks you are given, and not to give up.
For English homework, you are required to read a story book. After which, write a book review through hitting the 'comments' icon in this blog and type in your thoughts.
Include the following in your book review:
1) Title of book
2) Author's name
3) Illustrator (if any)
4) What this book is all about (write in 100 words)
5) Why you like the book
6) Your rating of the book upon 10 stars (1 star being not interesting at all, and 10 stars being most interesting)
Your post should reach this blog no later than next Friday, 20 March 2009, 11.59pm.
Enjoy reading! =)

Dear 3/4,
I was just browsing for multiplication websites when I stumbled on this one. It even addresses environmental issues which you might want to read up. This will interest those who like Science too!

Zoo Outing
Barely 48 hours after the school sports day, the primary 3 level went on an excursion to the Singapore Zoological Gardens the following Monday. The objective of the trip was to introduce animals to pupils and to teach them characteristics of some animals in order to classify them. The pupils of the entire cohort were divided into 6 groups and led by a teacher and 1-2 parent volunteers. It was a very short trip, considering that the zoo is such a gigantic place. Hahaha....
Tigers
Not long after we set off, some pupils complained that it was a long walk and they felt tired. No trams, no rides... but we had a good time looking at animals. We saw lions, zebras, baboons, giraffes and many more! The zoo is truly an educational place. Though we did not have sufficient time to go through all the exhibits, I would encourage you to go to the zoo with your family to learn more about these animals.
Indeed, I myself have learnt a lot! The last time I went to the zoo was more than 6 years ago, and the place has really been transformed. =) Certainly looking forward to a whole day's trip to the zoo again!!
Tigers
Tiger too!
Baboons
Baboons climbing tree.
Is that a tapir?
These lovely photos are courtesy of Liu Yang, 3/4.
What are your thoughts about this excursion? Any funny incidents along the trip? What was one thing that you picked up from this trip?
Sports Day
Last Saturday, the entire school was at Toa Payoh Sports Hall for our annual sports day. It was a blazing morning and the sun was beating down brightly on us all. First, we had the march past, followed by the events and then prize giving. All in all, it took up almost 5 hours and I would say the pupils all enjoyed themselves tremendously! =)
Pupils who took part in the competition displayed a good amount of sportsmanship and they were all motivated to represent their various houses. We have Falcon, Hawk, Eagle and Kingfisher houses. Well, Ms Seow was from Hawk house, and was helping out with the competitors section. It was really fun seeing the school cheering for each other. Even parents who took time off to cheer on their kids were seen enjoying themselves too.
Some pictures were taken during the break time with my class 3/4 as well as occasionally over the event.
Here they are! Oh yes, feel free to share with us how you enjoyed that day.
